Travel
The nearest train station is Axminster, a short bus or cab ride from Lyme Regis. The station is served by South Western on their London Waterloo to Exeter St David’s route.
If you don’t have a car, you can explore the area by bus. They usually run every hour or so.
Shops
Tesco and Co-Op are both located on the high street, a few minutes walk up the hill. Shops in Lyme are small, so consider a delivery (Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, and Tesco all deliver to the flat).

Things to do
The harbour wall (known as the Cobb) is one of the main attractions in Lyme Regis. There is an aquarium near the end of the Cobb. The Marine Theatre has a variety of events going on all the time, so check the posters under the arch. The Lyme Regis Museum is just next to the flat and has regular events including fossil walks, talks, and children’s events. There’s also a Fossil Museum in the town. There are lots of lovely art galleries, independent shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants.
There are loads of inland and coastal walks nearby including the coastal path to Golden Cap (the highest point on the south coast) to the east, the undercliffs to the west and walks inland along the River Lim. Check tide times before setting out on walks between Lyme and Charmouth.
The safest place to swim is from the sandy beach along the front. Along the seafront you can hire kayaks and stand up paddleboards. Lyme RIB Rides do fast as well as leisurely tours of the Dorset coast.
Maitri Yoga offers yoga classes in a studio overlooking the sea, as well as on the beach (when weather allows!) Seasidesaunahaus is a sauna on Seatown Beach, a 15 minute drive or a 40 minute bus ride away, open Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
